Sounding Kith

Come Home To The Tribe To Which You Belong

The Round

'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has
.' - Margaret Mead

Tribe Connection - Sounding Kith

COME HOME TO THE TRIBE TO WHICH YOU BELONG
Sounding Kith circles are same-gender gatherings designed to give gentle voice to what has too long been held within — so the soul can breathe again. These are places where truth is spoken without harm, connection is rekindled, and belonging is restored one ripple at a time.

Here, your voice is not pushed, forced, or amplified. It is heard. It is received. It is met.

Just as a stone touching the surface of a lake creates a widening ring, your truth — spoken with care — sends ripples through the shared field, allowing every member to grow braver in their own authenticity.

The word SOUND now guides our three rounds of gathering:

1) SOUND — Let the Truth Land
In this first round, you offer a simple, honest expression of what is alive in you. Not shouting — sounding. A truth spoken gently enough to be received, yet real enough to release the weight you’ve been carrying. When our truth is withheld, it grows heavier. When spoken into a safe field, it lightens —it becomes a ripple rather than a tidal wave. This round invites that soft release. You name what wants to be named, and it lands. You drop your stone into the lake, and we witness the ring rippling outwards.

2) SOUND — Give a Resonance Out
Here we turn toward appreciation — not forced gratitude, but genuine recognition. Who touched your life this week? What small act restored your faith? Where did you honour yourself in some quiet way? These are the ripples of the heart — the soft uplifting notes that remind us we are part of something larger. This is your chance to acknowledge beauty, to honour connection, and to let your voice contribute to the harmony of the circle.

3) SOUND — Offer a Gift of Kinship
In this final round, we offer something of ourselves to another member of the circle — a gesture, a moment of time, a listening ear, a cup of coffee, or an act of service. The gift is not grand; it is authentic. It is a recognition of our shared humanity. These exchanges weave the fabric of kith — a community born through truth, compassion, and presence. When we offer something freely, we strengthen the field. When we receive something offered, we soften into belonging.

At the close, we commit to meeting again the following week. Circles ideally run in closed groups for three months, allowing trust, courage, and camaraderie to deepen gradually and safely. However, we will start on an ad hoc basis so numbers gradually grow. Sounding Kith is one of the foundation stones of Hymn of Nature's Ensemble  — standing alongside Medicine Walks, Flower Essence Remedies, and the wider work of returning from separation to connection.

Sounding Kith - Men

FOR MEN WHO NEVER FEEL QUITE AT EASE IN THIS WORLD
When the lights go out, do you feel a weight you can’t quite name? A restlessness in your bones, a sense of not fully belonging — even with people you love? Do you carry an old ache, a quiet anger, or a loneliness that seems to have been there from the very beginning?

You’re not the only one. Many of us arrived in the world through some kind of rupture — a difficult birth, early separation, or a childhood where we learned to brace and get on with it. Sounding Kith – Men is a weekly circle for men who are ready to give gentle voice to what has been held inside for too long, in the company of others who carry similar imprints, even if the details of our stories differ.

Once a week, we meet in the Hymn of Nature office at 33, Perry Building, Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon TQ9 6EL — every Thursday at 7:00pm. Together we grow the bonds of brotherhood, standing side by side in honesty, respect, and shared humanity, letting each man’s truth land like a stone in the lake and watching the ripples gently unfold.

Sounding Kith -  Women

FOR THE WOMEN WHO FEEL JUST A LITTLE OUT OF PLACE
When night falls, does something inside you ache for a deeper kind of rest — a rest that isn’t just sleep, but belonging? Do your thoughts and feelings swirl under the surface — sadness, frustration, weariness, longing — with nowhere that feels truly safe to let them flow?

You’re not alone. Many women carry an early imprint of separation — through birth, bonding, or the subtle ways the world taught them to quieten down and carry on. Sounding Kith – Women is a weekly circle for women ready to gently voice what has been held in for too long, in the company of others who recognise the same ache, even if their stories are not the same, subtly different.

Once a week, we gather in the Hymn of Nature office at 33, Perry Building, Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon TQ9 6EL — every Monday at 7:00pm. Here we weave the bonds of sisterhood, holding one another with care, compassion, and strength, letting each woman’s truth land like a stone in still water and watching the ripples soften something in us all.
